ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader, Allama Tahirul Qadri Tuesday said the Judicial Tribunal constituted to probe into the Model Town tragedy had held Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab government responsible for it, adding the matter will now be closed upon the hanging of rulers.
In his speech to the sit-inners of his protest continuing for about a full week now, Tahirul Qadri said the Tribunal had come to a conclusion that Punjab government was responsible for the carnage in Model Town.
It may be recalled that 14 people were killed and dozens others injured in a clash between police and PAT workers in Model Town on June 17. The clash had occurred when a police party tried to remove barriers around PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri’s house and the Minhajul Quran Secretariat.
TAhirul Qadri said the incumbent rulers can keep their democracy to themselves. “We will introduce a democracy whose hallmark will not be loot and plunder,” he added.
He said curse be upon such a democracy in which rulers enjoy grand feasts while the poor sleep on empty stomach.
“Sharif brothers are responsible for Model Town carnage. Now the matter will be closed upon the hanging of rulers,” he said.
He said only 23 hours are remaining in the expiry of PAT’s deadline to the government and called upon the people to come out from their houses.
