Need to rescue parliament from gypsies: Achakzai
ISLAMABAD: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai said on Tuesday that all political parties, the judiciary, civil society and media are united to safeguard the constitution.

Addressing the joint session of the Parliament he said, "civil society, judiciary and media are with us and now we request [the] Pakistan Army to be with us as well".

He stated, that it is the most important day in the history of Pakistan and it is a test for the nation. He added that the parliament needs to be rescued from the gypsies (protesters).

Mahmood Achakzai further said that the media and civil society are on the same page and the judiciary has also joined hands to protect the constitution. He said that we need to decide the course of action today.

He added, that they would stop all those hands that would rise to malign the parliament and constitution.

It may be mentioned that the joint sitting of the parliament began today and will continue for a week to discuss prevailing political situation in the country.

Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq and Chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari are jointly presiding over the session.

President Mamnoon Hussain had summoned the joint session of the parliament on the advice of PM Nawaz Sharif who was present in the session today.

In this regard, the Prime Minister had consulted Syed Khursheed Shah, the Opposition leader in the National Assembly and Aitzaz Ahsan the Opposition leader in the Senate.
