RAWALPINDI: The army on Monday promoted former DG Rangers Sindh, Rizwan Akhtar to Lieutenant General and named him the new Director General of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
Lt. General Akhtar will replace Lt. General Zaheerul Islam who is set to retire in October and is expected to take charge in the first week of November.
Apart from General Akhtar, five other Major Generals were promoted to the rank of Lt. Generals including Hial Hussain, Ghayur Mahmood, Nazir Butt, Navid Mukhtar and Hidayat Ur Rehman.
