ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Allama Tahirul Qadri Monday said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), in a report released on its website a couple of days ago, had admitted a ‘massive rigging’ in the general elections of 2013.
“The Election Commission released the report after keeping it hidden for nine and a half months,” he said while addressing the participants of his sit-in in Islamabad.
He said the report admits that the State Bank of Pakistan, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA0 and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) did not cooperate with the ECP.
Qadri said his party’s protesters awakened the entire nation by continuing the sit-in for 40 days. “From Karachi to Peshawar, the downtrodden people are now standing up for their rights and IDPs are chanting ‘Go Nawaz Go’,” he claimed.
He said the Islamabad’s court has suspended till September 29 the section 144 that remained imposed in Islamabad.
Tahirul Qadri said the sit-in’s participants belonging to Islamabad and Rawalpindi could move between their homes and protest demonstration. He said the other day he had stopped them from going away from the site of the sit-in in the wake of information that there could be a crackdown on the protesters.
He said an ideological revolution has met success and that a wave of revolution can be witnessed across Pakistan.
