QUETTA: At least five people were killed and 20 wounded in a suicide attack here in Aliabad, an area of Hazara Town, according to CCPO Abdul Razzaq Cheema.
SP Saddar Mehmood Nautezai said that the blast was a suicide attack and the head of the attacker has been found.
The city's police chief, Cheema said people were busy shopping for Eid when the bomb exploded.
Security forces cordoned off the affected area while the injured are being shifted to a local hospital.
Following the suicide the area was cordoned off by law enforcement agencies.
The Hazara Democratic Party has denounced the terror strike.
The Balochistan Shia Conference and Shia Ulema Council have announced mourning periods of seven and one day respectively.
The area is populated by the Hazara community which has been targeted by militants in the past.
The blast in Hazara Town was the second attack in Quetta to take place on Saturday. A child was among seven people injured when a remote-controlled blast occurred near a cattle market at Spini Road.
After initial investigation, police said the explosives were planted in a car. The blast also damaged a car parked in the area.
It is pertinent to mention that the blast occurred when DSP Industrial was passing through the area but fortunately he remained safe in the incident.
