Code of Conduct silent over pamphlet distribution: ECP
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday clarified that its Code of Conduct in connection with elections was silent over distribution of pamphlets.

The clarification from the ECP came hours after the airdrop of pamphlets favouring Javed Hashmi in Multan. The pamphlets were dropped after the expiry of ECP’s deadline for political campaign and led to a controversy and debate in the political circles.

The ECP said the Code of Conduct only states that there will be a ban on public and corner meetings 48 hours prior to the day of election.

It also prohibits carrying out of election campaign within 400 yards of the concerned polling station, the clarification said.
