LAHORE: Cheques awarded to the national hockey team for good performances in the Asian Games by the Punjab government have bounced.
The news comes at a time when the national team players are still waiting to be paid central contracts money.
In a ceremony, chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Shareef had handed cheques worth 0.2 million each to 9 players and three officials which have unfortunately bounced.
Head coach Shehnaz Sheikh told Geo news that the cheques had bounced because a summary was yet to be submitted for the awards and hoped the matter would be resolved soon.
