SOUTHAMPTON: Skipper Pakistan ODI team Shahid Khan Afridi, shelving aside the regrets after loosing ODI series at the hands of England, has said boys put on good cricket despite being battered with match-fixing controversies, however, English team played much better cricket, Geo News reported Wednesday night.

He said winning and loosing is part of sports. “English players showed better character to end up crowned in five match series.”

After the fifth ODI came to conclusion, captain national team Shahid Afridi said in award distribution ceremony, bowlers remained on target but he was regretful over bowlers’ poor show.

“Bowlers bowled well but English batsman Morgan’s ton coupled with off spinner Swann’s magical spell later in the innings, turned fate of match all at once dramatically into England’s favour”, he noted.

He was pleased over boys’ team effort, saying players witnessed unity on ground but winning and loosing is part of game.

Afridi wished induction of young blood for better preparation ahead of World Cup scheduled to be played next year.
