Musharraf terms treason charges politically motivated

ISLAMABAD: Former military rulers and All Pakistan Muslim League chief Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday said treason charges against him were politically motivated and he was being victimized through the trial.

All the allegations against me are fabricated and politically motivated, he said adding that he was being singled out through the treason trial from which he will be acquitted honorably.

Pervez Musharraf termed the proceedings as a means of revenge against him. Mushraff had unseated Nawaz Sharif in a bloodless coup in 1999 and ruled the country for over eight years.
