Safdar Abbasi cold-shouldered at vital PPP meeting

ISLAMABAD: A significant meeting of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP), is currently underway in the federal capital here with the party’s leader Safdar Abbasi disallowed, Geo News reported Thursday.

According to sources, the meeting is mulling to suspend his membership of the party.

President Asif Ali Zardari is presiding over the Party’ CEC meeting attended by among others Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

The meeting is giving thought to coping with the flood devastations, issues relating national politics and other party matters are at table.

Senator Safdar Abbasi, a member of the PPP’s CEC, was not allowed to attend the meeting.

According to sources, a proposal to suspend his party membership, is under discussion.

The spokesman of President House said Safdar Abbasi has been speaking against the party leadership away from the party forum; accordingly, he was not invited to the meeting.
