ECP needs ‘clean-up’, says Qureshi
ISLAMABAD: Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) met new Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan today (Tuesday), Geo News reported.

The PTI delegation was headed by Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and while talking to the media after the meeting, Qureshi said that the Election Commission needs a clean-up. He said that the new CEC is facing a bigger challenge of restoring the credibility of the commission as all four provincial election commissioners had a controversial role in the 2013 general elections.

When asked about the matters discussed with the CEC, the PTI leader told that several issues were discussed including the matter of magnetic ink, local bodies elections with respect to delimitation. He further told that matter of printing of additional ballot papers was also discussed.

The PTI delegation meet the CEC at 12:00 noon in his office during which the party leaders officially apprised the commissioner about the rigging in the 2013 general elections and the post-election situation along with their concerns regarding the matter.

The PTI delegation was Shah Mahmood Qureshi while other members included Shireen Mazari, Arif Alvi and Asad Umar.

The PTI is currently holding anti-government protests throughout the country and have been staging a sit-in at D-Chowk in Islamabad for the past four months.

Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan took oath as new CEC on Saturday.
