ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has lodged strong protest with India over unprovoked firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Shakargarh, resulting in the martyrdom of two personnel of Punjab Rangers.

In this regard, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday to lodge the protest.

The foreign office demanded India to bring the responsible of unprovoked firing to justice.

Earlier, two personnel of the Punjab Rangers were martyred in an unprovoked firing incident during a visit for a flag meeting invitation by Border Security Force (BSF) in Shakargarh district on today.

According to sources at the Punjab Rangers, the two officials along with three soldiers had been invited to meet with the commanders at BSF and upon reaching the border trek near their destination, they were fired upon by the BSF.
