Altaf Hussain University belongs to all Pakistanis: MQM chief

HYDERABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Friday said that Hyderabad University was not only for Urdu speaking community but it belongs to people from all ethnic groups and religions.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of the Altaf Hussain University, the MQM chief said he would discuss establishment of the educational institute during his tours to Hyderabad and his dream finally came true after 55 long years.

He thanked Bahria Town owner and famous philanthropist Malik Riaz and former President Asif Ali for their efforts to build the university.

He, however, added that the university should have been built during Zardari’s stint. Applauding Bahria Town for its financial support for the university, the MQM chief said that Malik Riaz was a “hope for helpless people."

He urged the people to get modern and religious education as wisdom could only be attained through education.

The MQM chief said that a network of schools was laid in Sindh when his party held education ministry but all the schools were shut shortly after the government changed.

He lamented that no attention was paid to education in Pakistan and now the government should work towards education on war footing.

Altaf Hussain said nobody would be able to prevent Pakistan from becoming London and Paris if 10 more people like Malik Riaz were born in this country.

Condemning deadly bomb blast that ripped through an Imambargah, killing at least 50 people in Shikarpur, the MQM chief announced that his party would hoist black flags to mourn the incident.
