ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervez Rashid on Wednesday said statements made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan contradict the findings of a commission which probed electoral irregularities polling stations in NA-122.
"[Imran Khan] needs to accept that the people have rejected him. He should stop shedding tears and play his part in battling terrorism," he said.
"No matter how many excuses Imran presents, he should accept that he has lost in every constituency which has been investigated," he added.
Criticizing the PTI chairman, he said that Imran is his own judge and jury and that he does not believe in the courts like the Taliban.
NA-122 was one of four constituencies where National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq had defeated PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the 2013 general elections, and where the PTI had sought a recount and verification of votes.
Rashid’s statements came the same day the PTI chairman claimed that, after the forensic report of NA-122, it was impossible for Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to maintain his seat.
Imran held Returning Officers (ROs) responsible for poll rigging in the 2013 general elections.
“The real game was played by Returning Officers,” he said earlier today.
