Two Lyari ‘gangsters’ killed in police encounter

KARACHI: Two alleged Lyari gangsters were killed in a police encounter in Moach Goth area of the city on Sunday.

Fida Hussain, SSP City, said that the suspects opened fire on a police party during a raid conducted on a tip off.

He said that the police returned fire when the alleged gangsters tried to escape, leaving both of them injured.

The SSP said that Zubair and Akbar succumbed to their injuries when they were being shifted to hospital for treatment.

He said that the suspects were involved in various crimes including murder and extortion, adding that a sub-machinegun and pistol were also recovered from the possession of the gangsters.
