GUJRANWALA: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Gujranwala has issued death warrants for seven condemned prisoners, who were awarded death sentence in lynching of two brothers of Sialkot.
The death warrants of convicted prisoners Jamil Jeela, Rashid Mahar, Iqbal, Ameen, Ali Raza, Shafiq and Sarfaraz were issued by judge Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed. They will be sent to gallows on April 08.
The condemned prisoners had tortured to death along with a mob the two brothers of Sialkot namely Mugheez and Muneeb in August 2011. The court had awarded death sentence to them after they were found guilty.
The Lahore High Court had dismissed their petition, filed against conviction.
The counsels of the condemned prisoners are of view that they could exercise their right of appeal against the verdict in the Supreme Court.
