KARACHI: The battle for NA246 is in full swing with candidates from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamat-e-Islami (JI) campaigning for a seat the MQM has previously won 9 times.
The constituency is home to over 350,000 voters. It includes prominent areas of Azizabad, Liaquatabad, Karimabad and Yasinabad to name a few. Politically the constituency has been considered one of the most important constituencies of the metropolis as well as being the stronghold of the MQM.
Ahead of the by-election on the 23rd of April, voters from the constituency spoke to Geo News and shared their concern regarding the trend of elected representatives forgetting the people and their problems after winning the seat. They shared, that even after being empowered by their vote the winning candidates are unable to do anything for the constituency.
Voters say they are not concerned over who wins NA246, so long as the winner focuses and solves the problems of the constituency on priority basis.
