Bodies of Gilgit crash victims arrive at Noor Khan Airbase
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif was on hand as the bodies of victims who lost their lives in yesterday’s (Friday) MI-17 helicopter crash in Naltar Valley of Gilgit arrived at the Noor Khan Airbase.




The COAS was accompanied by other top military officials and the families of deceased along with diplomatic staff were also present.


The bodies were received at the airbase with full military honor. A guard of honor was presented to them.

A C-130 aircraft carrying injured people of Naltar tragedy also landed at Noor Khan Airbase.

On May 08, a MI-17 helicopter crash in the Naltar Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan killed seven people including Ambassador of Philippines Domingo D Lucenario Jr, Ambassador of Norway Leif Larsen, wives of the Malaysian and Indonesian ambassadors, two Pakistan Army majors and a Subedar.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has deputed three cabinet ministers to accompany the bodies of envoys and spouses who lost their lives in the tragic crash.

Minister for Safron Abdul Qadir Baloch will travel with the remains of Norwegian Ambassador Leif Larsen while Ahsan Iqbal will proceed to Indonesia and Malaysia with the bodies of the envoys’ spouses.

Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir will travel to Philippines with the body of Ambassador Domingo D Lucenario Jr.
