Imran criticizes Morsi death sentence

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Sunday criticized death sentence handed down to Egypt’s former president Mohammed Morsi, saying the conviction bodes ill for people of the country and the democracy.

Morsi was sentenced to death on Saturday by an Egyptian court for his role in a jail break along with many others.

Khan said Pakistan was still suffering the aftermath of the hanging of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto by a military dictator.

Reham Khan, wife of the PTI chief, also reacted over the punishment handed down to the first elected president of the most populous Arab nation, wondering over the silence of Muslim world over the sentencing.
