ISLAMABAD: Former president and Co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday said the government during his stint in power did not have any information about the issue of Axact’s fake degrees.
“Even if the concerned authorities did have such information on Axact’s activities, the same was not passed on to him when he was president,” Asif Zardari said while talking to Hamid Mir in an exclusive interview.
He said the department that is responsible for collecting revenue might have got its hands on such information. “The FBR, FIA and other departments should be asked if they had information on the matter,” he added.
Commenting on security situation of Sindh, the former president said the overall law and order situation has registered a noticeable improvement.
Expressing his support to gas infrastructure development cess, he said the revenues collected under this head would be invested into the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project.
He described his Kabul tour as a goodwill trip that he used to extend his felicitation to Ashraf Ghani on taking charge as president of Afghanistan.
“We have to live in this region and we cannot combat the menace of terrorism alone,” he said.
