No need for JIT made by govt, police: Qadri

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said on Monday that the public and media are the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), and there is no need for a JIT made by the government and police.

While speaking to the media after arriving at his residence in Model Town, Lahore this morning, he said that there is no need for a JIT to find the murderer, rather, a JIT is needed to find the one who gave the call for murder.

Qadri went on to say that the planning of the Model Town incident when blood was shed of his innocent party workers, was made in Islamabad.

The PAT chief also demanded from those who are carrying out the Karachi operation that 14 bodies of his workers are awaiting justice.

He questioned that will the public ever see that day when the rulers are sent to jail for ordering murders.

Qadri arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore early morning on Monday and made his way to his Model Town residence with a convoy of followers and party workers who gave him a warm welcome. The party reportedly refused to accept security protocol of Punjab Police.

On the other hand, the Punjab government had issued a threat alert recommending Qadri to avoid travelling in a public procession.

The warning letter recommended using bullet-proof vehicle and vest due to a likely threat to the PAT chief’s life. It also urged not to allow any stranger to come close to Qadri’s vehicle upon stopping at traffic signal or road-blockage.

According to intelligence reports, two suicide attackers have left Waziristan tribal area for Lahore, says the letter. The possible target of the two terrorists, belonging to Al Qaeda, can be an important political, religious or foreign personality, it added.

Qadri had earlier arrived in Dubai from London on a flight of a foreign airline and was greeted by PAT leaders and workers upon his arrival in Lahore.
