ISLAMABAD: Responding to MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s speech from the last night, former president of Pakistan and Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said routine ‘non-serious rhetoric and allegations’ did not suit the former.
In Friday night’s speech, Hussain had alleged Zardari of deceiving him twice and getting him abused by his men.
In a statement issued by Senator Farhatullah Babar here today, Zardari said that his party has kept its promises with the MQM. “We have always tried to take all onboard in the federal as well as in Sindh government,” he added.
The PPP co-chairman said it was in fact MQM that had betrayed his party. “We’ve always put two pre-conditions in every dialogue with MQM; no discussions regarding dividing Sindh is the first and another is about cooperation for making Karachi a peaceful city,” he added.
“Even today, we have the same stance that the party would not let Sindh be divided at any cost.”
The former president went on to say that the negative politics of Altaf Hussain would prove harmful for MQM itself. He urged the party to work for the progress of Sindh and Pakistan by joining the mainstream.
The PPP co-chairman advised Altaf Hussain to avoid ‘routine unnecessary rhetoric’ in his public speeches.
