DG Rangers Pakistan, Indian BSF Commander meet in Delhi today
RAWALPINDI: A Pakistani delegation led by DG Rangers (Punjab) Maj-Gen Umar Farooq Burki has departed for New Delhi today for talks with officials of the Border Security Force (BSF).

"A 16-member delegation, comprising of members from Pakistan Rangers Punjab and Sindh, Ministry of Interior, Survey of Pakistan and Anti Narcotics Force, headed by Major General Umar Farooq Burki, Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) left today from Wagah Border for routine Bi-Annual talks with Border Security Force (BSF) at New Delhi," a spokesman for the Pakistan Rangers said in a statement on Wednesday.

The talks, which are held alternatively in India and Pakistan, will take place this year over a span of four days from Sept 9 to 12, where border-guarding forces from both countries will discuss professional matters related to border management.

"In order to avoid losses to innocent civilian lives and properties, the delegation will discuss issues pertaining to unprovoked ceasefire violations, smuggling and safe/early return of inadvertent border crossers," said the spokesman.

Recent unprovoked firing by BSF, the tense situation at Working Boundary and other key matters are expected to come under discussion between the two sides.
