Ex-PM Pervaiz Ashraf appears before accountability court in RPP case

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Wednesday appeared before the accountability court in Rental Power Plant case and filed a plea for exemption from appearance in the next hearings.

Judge Nisar Baig heard the case and adjourned the hearing till October 09. The court also deferred the decision on exemption plea till next hearing.

Speaking to journalists outside the court, the former prime minister said, he was accused of misuse of power and not corruption, adding that such accusations would also prove fabricated.

Pervaiz Ashraf said there should be thorough investigation before hurling accusations against anyone.

He went on to say, “Khawaja Asif moved Supreme Court against me over Rental Power Plant, however, he is now Minister for Water and Power and the cabinet has approved the project.”

The ex-PM surprised over the decision of the cabinet, saying that whatever Khawaja Asif do is right and we did was wrong!
