MUMBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) President and former Pakistani cricketer Zaheer Abbas has condemned the attack on BCCI headquarters by Shiv Sena, raising the question on Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup in India if the situation remained the same.
Continuous extremist incidents have raised question over holding Twenty20 World Cup in India next year.
Activists of the hardline Hindu nationalist party Shiv Sena stormed the headquarters of the Indian cricket board in Mumbai on Monday, shortly before Indian cricket officials were scheduled to meet their Pakistani counterparts to discuss reviving cricket ties between the two nations.
Also, Maharashtra state government has advised Pakistan not to play their World Cup matches in Nagpur and Mumbai.
Zaheer Abbas said being the ICC president, he wanted cricket to spread all around the world.
World T20 will be played in India from March 11 and 16 teams cross the world will participate in the mega event, however, it seems the Indian land has become narrow for the game and players.
Two days back, Hindu extremists had also threatened to block the way of Indian and South African cricket teams to the Rajkot stadium on the match day-where the third one-day international match of the Gandhi-Mandela series was to be on October 18.
