Houthis say they will speed up attacks to respond to Israel
Yemen's Houthis said on Monday that they will escalate military operations against Israel in response to its attacks on the country, a day after an Israeli attack against Houthi targets which the Yemeni group's spokesperson said left five killed and 57 injured.

17 parliamentarians abstain from voting in presidential election
As Pakistan Peoples Party nominee Asif Ali Zardari was elected the 14th president of Pakistan, 381 out of 398 parliamentarians cast votes while 17 abstained from balloting in the electoral event.
12 lawmakers of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) did not take part in the presidential election. Other parliamentarians who did not cast their votes include, one from the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), the Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) senators Shibli Faraz, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Azam Swati, and Senator Muzaffar Hussain Shah from the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA).

Opposition to be taken in confidence for legislation: Khawaja Asif
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central leader Khawaja Asif has said that opposition would be taken in confidence to finalise all genres of legislation with consensus.
"No one can deny the opposition's right to approach the Supreme Court [in case of any grievances]," the senior politician told Geo News, adding that the new government would take the opposition lawmakers in confidence prior to finalising any legislation in the parliament.

Sindh CM Shah felicitates Zardari on becoming president for second term
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has congratulated Asif Ali Zardari on becoming the president of Pakistan for second term.
In a statement, CM Shah said that Zardari’s success with an overwhelming majority was the "victory of democracy." The newly-elected president would put the country on the path of prosperity by combining all state units, he added.

PM Shehbaz congratulates Zardari on election as president
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday congratulated President-elect Asif Ali Zardari on his success in the presidential poll, saying that the elected members of all provinicial and national legislatives expressed confidence in the ruling coalition's candidate.
He expressed hope that Zardari will fulfil his responsibilities as the president in a good way and represent the strength of the Centre.
"Zardari's election as president is the continuity of democratic values," PM Shehbaz said, pledging to work for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

PML-Q hopes Zardari to take everyone along in conduct of presidential affairs
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that he has voted for Asid Ali Zardari in the presidential poll.
"We hope Zardari will take everyone along [in the conduct of presidential affairs," Shafay said.
He also expressed hope that the institutions responsible for the betterment of the economy will try to bring down inflation.

Ruling alliance joint candidate Asif Ali Zardari secured 255 electoral votes in parliament in the presidential election.
PTI-backed SIC candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai bagged 119 votes in parliament comprising the National Assembly and Senate.
Only 1 vote was rejected in parliament.
