New Jersey

New Jersey is one of the thirteen original colonies of the United States and is situated in the northeastern region of the country. It has participated in all presidential elections since joining the Union on December 18, 1787.

The state had 16 electoral votes from 1972 until the 2010 Census. Following population changes reflected in the Census, New Jersey's electoral votes decreased to 14.

Due to its high population density, New Jersey has the second-highest number of electoral votes per square mile in the US, following only Rhode Island.

New Jersey has supported Democratic candidates in the last five presidential elections after previously choosing Republicans in six consecutive elections. In the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden won New Jersey with 57% of the vote, while Donald Trump received 41%
