Nevada

Nevada, also known as the Silver State, became a state of the US on October 31, 1864, during the Civil War, making it the 36th state. During the 1980s, the state had four electoral votes. With a significant population increase of 35% between 2000 and 2010, Nevada's electoral votes grew to a total of six.

Republican candidates dominated the state from the 1960s through the 1980s. However, in 2016, Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party won Nevada’s electoral votes, marking only the second instance since 1912— the first being in 1976— where Nevada voted for a candidate who did not win the presidency.

Joe Biden of the Democratic Party won Nevada’s electoral votes by a margin of 2.5% over Donald Trump in the 2020 election and also won the White House.
