Wyoming

Wyoming achieved statehood in July 1890, just a week after Idaho joined the Union.

Like most states in the Mountain West region, Wyoming has consistently supported the Republican Party in presidential elections, voting for Democratic candidates only once since 1952. The state voted for the Democrats in 1964, when Lyndon Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater.

In 2020, Wyoming continued its trend of supporting Republicans, with Donald Trump defeating Democrat Joe Biden by a margin of 43%. Wyoming remains a safe Republican state with three electoral votes, and it will have the same number of Electoral College votes in the 2024 presidential election.
