Charlie Puth opened up about his decision to release his latest song Hero.

In an interview with Genius, Puth revealed that the track was written before Taylor Swift's shoutout on her album's song The Tortured Poets Department.

However, Swift's acknowledgement reaffirmed the Attention hitmaker's ability to express emotions through music, saying, "Taylor basically reaffirmed the notion that i can say things in my song."

He credited the So High School singer for inspiring him to finally release the song, Hero.
